Year 5 - Summer 2
Hi Year 5,
This is our last half term together as Year 5 and I am sure we will make the most of it! You have all worked so incredibly hard this year so I hope you will keep this up until the summer holidays.
Our topic this half term is a geography topic on Trade. I am sure that you will be intrigued by this topic and are looking forward to learning more about it. We will be conducting lots of research and linking our learning to current times too.
In Power Maths, we will continue looking at decimals and percentages before moving onto Geometry units where we will investigate properties of shape and how shapes can change positions and directions.
During our English lessons, we will revisit poetry and think about how poets consider the language and structure of their poems to have the greatest impact on the reader. We will also secure the spelling rules and grammar techniques we have practiced by using them in independent writing.
Homework will continue to be set on a Friday. This will consist of three assignments on teams including SPaG, Maths and Topic. These will have links to SpellingShed, TTRockstars and MyMaths as well as an additional learning task. Please make an extra effort to complete your homework as the tasks will be linked to previous learning or what we are currently practicing in the classroom.
We will continue to have PE on a Monday and Thursday so please make sure you are in your school PE kits with your hair tied back and earrings out.
Myself and Mrs Collins have thoroughly enjoyed our time together so far, let’s make this half term the best!
