Welcome to East Bierley CE (VC) Primary School

We are proud to be a church school at the heart of our local community and in the centre of our village. Our school has a long and proud history, and a very exciting future. Whether you are already part of our future, or are thinking about joining us, we would like to welcome you into our community.

We work closely with parents to ensure we meet the needs of all our learners. As a close-knit school, we work together to achieve great results. Our staff are friendly and caring, we work extremely hard to ensure children feel safe and happy in school and that our curriculum is exciting and engaging. Our PTFA are active and work hard for school to provide exciting extras for all the children. Everyone is welcome to join our PTFA!

We strive to ensure that our children experience a calm learning environment where they can grow both educationally and socially whilst developing resilience and independence. We believe that each child is unique and that they deserve the best; our aim is for them to succeed in every area of school life.

The core Christian values of our school form a firm foundation for all we do. Our values of Friendship, Forgiveness, Courage, Trust and Respect are embedded throughout our broad school curriculum. We celebrate all the achievements of our children and are very proud of them. They successfully represent school in sporting, musical and artistic events.

Our school is a friendly welcoming place and if you would like to visit us to find out more about us, please contact the office. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website and look forward to meeting you in school soon.

Our Values and Ethos

We have five agreed core Christian values: Friendship, Forgiveness, Trust, Courage and Respect.  These values form the core of our worship in school and are embedded throughout the curriculum and all aspects of school life. Children are encouraged to explore these values through daily worship and they are expressed through our daily school life from our behaviour policy, to the development of a child-led curriculum and through participating in wide ranging sporting and musical activities.  We make the most of opportunities for our values to be understood through a relevant context for our children.

We celebrate these values within school. Our ethos is friendly and family centred.  We welcome parents into school and enjoy the opportunity to work together. The last 15 months have been a challenge for us all, but we feel we are stronger than ever due to our strong foundations and our great relationships with each other.

All staff are aware of the importance of our Christian ethos and core values at East Bierley Primary School, and fully embrace them in all aspects of their professional practice, regardless of their role in school.

Our ethos and values embody British Values in all we do.  Our core values are at the heart of school and we celebrate them daily. Our focus on our core values encourages a real understanding of right and wrong along with a celebration of our individual rights and responsibilities.

As stated in our last SIAMS inspection report: 'The uniqueness of every individual is emphasised and celebrated across the curriculum. Care is taken to nurture and value everyone so that all can flourish.'

Ethos Statement from our Instrument of Government

Recognising its historic foundation, the School will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.

The School aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.  It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
