Admissions to East Bierley CE (VC) Primary School
As a voluntary controlled school, admissions to the school are managed by our local authority, Kirklees. We follow their admission policies which can be found on their website here.
Visits to the school
As a small primary school we do not hold an open evening. We do, however, encourage parents considering East Bierley Primary School to visit us during the school day. Our Head Teacher, Mrs Upham, would like to meet you and show you around the school so that you can experience our welcoming and friendly school as it really is. This would also give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
Visits are preferred on Thursday mornings and can be arranged by contacting the school office.
Admissions to Reception Class for September 2023
All applications to East Bierley Primary School must be made through the local authority where you live. The school sits within Kirklees, but is very close to the border with Bradford and not far from Leeds. In recent years we have seen an increase in applications from Bradford residents with many successfully gaining a place for their children at the school.
For residents in Kirklees details of the admissions process and online application can be found here.
For residents in Bradford details can be found here.
The closing date for applications to Reception class is 15 January 2023 and National Offer Day, when you find out which school your child has been allocated a place is 17 April 2023
The application process allows parents to make three ordered preferences of school. If East Bierley is your preferred school then it is important that you make us your first preference on your application. A higher preference does not give a higher priority for a place, but when a child qualifies for a place at more than one of the schools named, they will be offered a place at the highest preference school.
In Year Applications
You may apply for a place at our school at any time during the year. In Year admissions are managed by our local authority, Kirklees. Please see the information above about visiting the school, which we would encourage you to do, before making an application.
To apply for a place at our school you will need to complete the In Year Common Application Form (ICAF) and return it to the school. A printed copy of the application process and form can be obtained from the school office or it may be downloaded by clicking this link.
Appeals
If you have applied for a place at our school and have not been allocated a place then you have the right to submit an appeal. If you do wish to appeal we would encourage you to contact the school first.
Appeals are managed by our local authority, Kirklees and details of the process can found on their website here.
